Immersion
Please add SyBBURE as an Immersion experience even if you have another one already! You can have more than one and choose which you would like to use for your culminating project. If you want to use SyBBURE as your final project you just need to turn in one of your UGRF posters (or some other research-related deliverable). The steps to add SyBBURE are:
Fill out the Independent Experience Form
Student Information Tab
Fill out relevant personal information.
Experiential Pathway Tab
Choose “Research” as the experiential pathway category.

Is your immersive experience…? - Answer “No”
Please select offices on campus…? - Answer “Other” and specify with “The SyBBURE Searle Undergraduate Research Program”
What do you already know about this immersive experience? - Answer with the following text:
“SyBBURE is a research and design program where uniquely different people gather to do cool stuff. It funds undergraduate students at Vanderbilt University to explore any aspect of STEM that interests them through independent research and team-based design projects. SyBBURE provides individualized mentorship and training to promote student personal and professional development within an extraordinary and inclusive community.”
Where will your immersive…? - Answer “On-Campus” and fill in relevant details
When do you plan to do…? - Insert current semester and graduation semester
Faculty or Staff Experience Mentor - Answer “Jonathan Ehrman, jonathan.d.ehrman@vanderbilt.edu”

2. Funding

State the funding source, amount…? - Answer with the following text:
SyBBURE provides a $9000/year stipend to perform research in a lab with Vanderbilt Faculty. Additionally, it provides $2000/year for conference travel and $1000 per year for research and design project funds. I intend to use the funds to pursue independent research.
3. Culminating Project Information
Select “Presentation” if you want to submit a VURS poster and state the date you expect to complete and present your poster.
When you complete your immersive experience (i.e. VURS poster), complete the following form:

Optional Student Self-Reflection
Fill out a short reflection on the experience, if you so desire.
Post-Immersion Plans
Answer either “Graduating” or “Continuing my undergraduate career”
If you answer “Graduating”, fill out the remaining questions with your post-grad plans.
And with that, you have completed your immersion requirement! Nice job!
